St. Cletus ~ Rooted in Christ

Message Community Worship Service

May 7, 2026

Dear School Families:

Next Tuesday, May 12, will be our last Mass with our 8th Graders for the school year. A week later, on Tuesday evening, May 19, our 8th graders graduate. We are so proud of these students – they have been such wonderful role models to the entire student body during the year. We would like to congratulate them as they move on to the next phase in their academic careers. We are very proud of the effort and leadership they have shown throughout the year. It has been a joy to have watched them grow into the wonderful young adults they are today. Our thanks to the PTO and 7th Grade Families for preparing a wonderful celebration on this occasion.

On Thursday, May 21, Student Council will be having a peanut butter and jelly dress-down day for Saints Teresa and Bridget Parish and Community Center. If children wish to dress down that day, they should bring in either a jar of peanut butter or jelly (or both!) ~ please send unopened jars only. The food will be delivered to the Parish to help the homeless throughout the summer months. Thank you for your support!

Incoming Kindergarten screening went well – it is so nice to meet our future St. Cletus students of the Class of 2035! If you know of anyone interested in attending St. Cletus School or Preschool, please share this information with them. We are always happy to provide information and tours of the school to interested families. The best way to spread the good news about St. Cletus is through word of mouth.

The children in the Consolidated Catholic Schools’ Band (CCSB) were excellent this morning at their concert. We would like to thank Mrs. Chruma and the children for starting our day off in such a wonderful manner.

Next Monday, the CCSB will hold their Band Concert at St. Cletus in the gym at 6:30 PM. The children did an amazing job on the tour of schools and we are looking forward to hearing them on Monday evening. Our thanks to Mrs. Chruma and the children for all their dedication and hard work. All 4th – 8th Graders have the opportunity to join the CCSB. Joining the band is a wonderful way for children to explore their talents and enjoy the fine arts! Please consider having your child/children participate in the band in the future.

We are looking forward to our Field Day tomorrow; we hope you are able to join us for part or all of the day. The events will begin at 9:00 AM and last until dismissal at 1:00 PM. The classes will participate in a number of events prior to lunch, and after lunch we will have the school family activity and end the day with the 8th grade/faculty water balloon toss. We are looking forward to see who are the last two individuals standing! My thanks to Mrs. Prather and the 8th grade students for planning the day for everyone. Our thanks to the PTO for providing us with shirts for the day. We would also like to thank the PTO and Men’s Club for Barbequing and providing lunch for everyone. We look forward to seeing you at Field Day tomorrow!

Tomorrow is the final day to turn in the funds from the Glow Run. I would like to thank everyone who has sent in their donations for the Glow Run. We have already raised over $2,300.00. Please know how appreciative we are of your constant support as we have raised funds for our new playground. During the Parish Picnic you will find a rendering of the new playground. After next weekend we will place one in the school lobby and one in the Gathering Space at Church. Please take a moment to stop and see the design of our new playground. Thank you again for all you have done to make our playground a possibility.

Tomorrow is the last day to order a 2026 – 2027 Yearbook. Please send the form, sent home previously, to the school office tomorrow. Thank you!

The final week for the Thursday envelope will be Thursday, May 21. Any summer information that needs to be distributed should be in the office no later than Wednesday, May 20. Thank you!

Grab your hiking boots and take a step through the misty air of Rainforest Falls, overflowing with wild waterfalls, towering trees, and colorful creatures. Beneath a canopy of chattering birds and howling monkeys, children plunge into a lifelong adventure of discovering the nature of God. They'll explore what it means to be rooted in relationship with God, their creator, a refuge in life's storms. Registration has begun for this tropical adventure during the week of June 8 - 12. Children entering Kindergarten through 5th Grade are invited to join the adventure. 6th Graders and up are invited to sign-up to be a volunteer. Come join the adventure by following this link – vbspro.events/p/saintcletus and look forward to an adventurous week in under a canopy adventure this summer!

Please share the news of Our Help Pave the Path to Play Program! We have sold 108 bricks, which is wonderful. I would like to thank those individuals who have purchased a brick already! Please know that bricks can be purchased by individuals going together, by classes, in memory of or as a challenge between different groups, etc. Individuals can also donate without purchasing a brick. We appreciate everyone’s commitment to helping us provide a new playground for the children.

As you know, the Parish Picnic has included a 50/50 Raffle in past years. This year, it was changed to a new format, and your family and children have the option to help us sell tickets. This is not a mandatory request, but the Parish is offering a class party for the class that sells the most tickets. In addition to the class party an added incentive to the class who sells the most Mega raffle tickets per student is a class dress down day.

In no time at all the Parish Picnic will be upon us! The Picnic will run on Friday, May 15, 5:00 – 11:00 PM, and Saturday, May 16, 11:00 AM – 10:00 PM. The Cornhole Tournament check-in will begin at 4:00 PM. You will find information in the envelope this week regarding all aspects of the Parish Picnic. There are many opportunities to help the Parish put on the best picnic ever! The flyers provide information on becoming a sponsor and the Parish Picnic Mega Raffle. We ask you to visit sign-up genius to sign-up to assist in working at least one shift during the picnic. It is always exciting for the students to play the games and win prizes at the Parish Picnic. You will find a Wish List flyer for the game booths. There are so many ways to volunteer and join together to support our Parish. Thank you for your help! We are looking forward to a fun-filled festive weekend!

Information regarding arm bands for the Picnic rides can be found in the packet this week. Please note that Arm Bands are available for advanced purchase only.

Soccer and Volleyball registration are in full swing! Visit the Athletics page on the Saint Cletus Parish website. Families have until June 6 to register for the coming season.

The PTO will be sponsoring a Uniform Exchange, in the school across from Mrs. Henderson’s office beginning Monday, May 18. Please drop by at any time during the day, sign in at the school office, and browse the uniforms. This is an awesome way to exchange outgrown uniforms or simply donate gently used uniforms. Our thanks to the PTO for organizing this event. Lost & Found will also be available at this time. Please stop by to collect any missing items.

This week’s STP Tip of the Week: Volunteers Needed! We are in need of volunteers to sell STP Certificates after the 4:00 PM Saturday Mass and 7:30 AM Sunday Mass. If you are interested, please contact Jess Lister through Fast Direct to get on the weekend rotation to help sell. We appreciate your assistance!

We look forward to seeing you this evening for the final PTO Meeting of the school year. The PTO Thank You Dinner will begin at 6:00 PM with the meeting beginning at 6:30 PM.

Have a wonderful weekend!
Rosann Doherty
