St. Cletus ~ Rooted in Christ

Message Community Worship Service

May 22, 2025

Dear School Families:

Tomorrow will be our last Mass with our 8th Graders for the school year. We are so proud of these students – they have been such wonderful role models to the entire student body during the year. We would like to thank them for all their effort and help this year in making it such a wonderful school year. We will miss them, but wish them well in High School.

Next Wednesday evening, May 28, our 8th graders graduate. We would like to congratulate them as they move on to the next phase in their academic careers. We are very proud of the effort and leadership they have shown throughout the year. It has been a joy to have watched them grow into the wonderful young adults they are today. Our thanks to the PTO and 7th Grade Families for preparing a wonderful celebration on this occasion.

Next Friday, May 30, we will celebrate together at the final All School Mass of the year. Please join us as we end the 2024 – 2025 School Year and begin summer vacation!

Please mark your calendars for Sunday, June 1. We would like to join Fr. Chris at a 2:00 PM Mass as we celebrate 25 years of his ordination as a priest. There will be a reception following Mass in the School Gym. Please RSVP by May, 27 at either 636-946-6327 or secretary@saintcletus.org. We look forward to spending this special day with him.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our school families, PTO, and Men’s Club for a wonderful year at St. Cletus. I am so appreciative of the generosity you provide the teachers and myself throughout the year. It is through this generosity that we are able to provide the children a solid, challenging academic and spiritual program on which they can build a foundation for their future development.

I would also like to thank Fr. Chris for a wonderful year, His leadership has been amazing, and his weekly homilies have been inspiring – bringing the Gospel to life for all of us. Our thanks to Fr. Rich for greeting us each morning to share his smile and start our day off on a positive note! Our thanks to Deacon Mark and Deacon Frank, their spiritual guidance and support is greatly appreciated.

My thanks to the children for putting forth their best effort at school each day throughout the year. They have worked to their full potential and have strived to live the gospel message on a daily basis. I would also like to thank the Student Council for doing such a wonderful job as leaders of the school. We are extremely proud of their efforts and abilities.

Lastly, I would like to thank the faculty and staff for their dedication and devotion to St. Cletus. I am privileged to work with an amazing group of individuals on a daily basis. I am grateful for the spiritual and academic environment they help establish for the children. Unfortunately, several individuals from our faculty will be leaving us this year. Mrs. Smith will be retiring this year. She has been with us for the last 24 years, taking care of the children of St. Cletus. We have been fortunate to have had Mrs. Smith as a homeroom and resource teacher throughout the years, but also as her role in formation, sharing her insights with the Mass Readings and throughout the year with the community. We wish her well and want to thank her for the love and care she has shown the children and families of St. Cletus. Mrs. Terri Walker will be leaving St. Cletus to teach at Immaculate Conception in Dardenne. She has been with us for the past 21 years, providing a strong, faith-filled foundation to our primary students. We wish her well and want to thank her for the love and care she has shown the children and families of St. Cletus. Mrs. Rachel York will be leaving St. Cletus to teach in the Orchard Farm School District with the Early Childhood. She has been with us for the past 6 years, not only bringing the Christmas Spirit to her students and those around her, but a joy of learning to the students of St. Cletus. We wish her well and want to thank her for the love and care she has shown the children and families of St. Cletus. Ms. Johanna Burroughs will be leaving St Cletus to work as a support coordinator for individuals with disabilities. She has been with us the past 5 years, assisting our students to gain confidence and flourish to be their best selves. We wish her well and want to thank her for the love and care she has shown the children and families of St. Cletus. Mr. Riley Scott will be leaving St. Cletus for De Smet Jesuit Middle School. He has been with us this year and has made a lasting impression upon his students. We wish him well and want to thank him for the love and care he has shown the children and families of St. Cletus. Mrs. Kateri Lowery will be leaving St. Cletus to work at Duchesne High School full time. Mrs. Lowery has been with us the past 2 years assisting our preschoolers and providing a strong foundation for our youngest students. We wish her well and want to thank her for the love and care she has shown the children and families of St. Cletus. It has been an honor and joy working with these individuals. They have blessed us with their passion for education over the years and they will be greatly missed. They will be in our thoughts and prayers.

While it is sad to see familiar face leave us, we would like to welcome two new members to the St. Cletus Community. Mrs. Lauren Bogart will be joining us as the 4th Grade Homeroom Teacher. She has previously taught one year and St. Paul, St. Paul as well as spent 9 years at the Academy of the Sacred Heart. She is also an alumni of St. Cletus School. I would also like to welcome Mrs. Jacqui Zancanata as our 1st Grade Teacher. She is joining us from Faith Preschool. Please join me in welcoming Mrs. Bogart and Mrs Zancanata to the St. Cletus Family. As I fill positions throughout the summer, I will be notifying you through Fast Direct.

The children will be bringing home their NWEA results today. As mentioned earlier this year, the Archdiocese will be using the NWEA Tests as our new testing program. There is a three-year implementation process. While we do not have to test everyone until the 2026-2027 School Year, we did begin testing everyone this year so the children had time to become familiar with this type of testing. At the bottom of the second page of the results you will find two links to visit for information regarding the tests, test results, and even sample tests.

Tomorrow afternoon at 2:00 PM, we will have an Awards Assembly. Please join us in our final All School Assembly with our entire student body as we honor our 8th graders who participated in a variety of school activities, as well as those students school-wide who will be receiving the St. Cletus Award, Principal’s Award, and Reading Awards. The following Friday, May 30, after the final All School Mass of the year, we will gather in the gym for the Academic Excellence Awards for the 5th – 7th Grade students.

Report Cards will be available to view at noon on Friday, June 6.

Please note that the Back to School Night will be held on Tuesday, August 5, at 6:30 PM. We will be holding it prior to the first day of school so all information can be given to families before we begin classes. We look forward to seeing you there!

If you know of anyone interested in attending St. Cletus School please share this information with them. We are always happy to provide information and tours of the school to interested families. The best way to spread the good news about St. Cletus is through word of mouth.

On Friday, June 13, the Parish will be holding a Day of Giving. The goal is $150,000.00 to cover a variety of capital improvements for the Parish. Followed by a Day of Service on Saturday, June 14, from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM. Please consider supporting one or both amazing opportunities to come together as a Parish Family. I am always in awe of the individuals of St. Cletus for their generosity and continued support of our Parish. Thanks for you for all you do to make St. Cletus such a welcoming environment.

Trek into an unforgettable Alaskan adventure with us this summer! Children will journey through the Book of Matthew to discover how Jesus is their guiding light, offering unwavering faithfulness throughout life's challenges. Each day focuses on a different Bible story, reinforcing the message that Jesus is always present and dependable in every situation. Bursting with the glow of northern lights, vistas of majestic mountains, and the wonder of God's wildest creatures, children will be trekking the tundra while learning all about Jesus' faithful and trusting friendship! Registration has begun for this Alaskan adventure during the week of June 9 - 13. Children entering Kindergarten through 5th Grade are invited to join the adventure. 6th Graders and up are invited to sign-up to be a volunteer. Come join the adventure by following this link – vbspro.events/p/saintcletus and look forward to an adventurous week in the Alaskan wilderness this summer!

There is one week left to visit the Uniform Exchange, sponsored by our PTO. Which can be found across from Mrs. Henderson’s office. Please drop by at any time during the day, sign in at the school office, and browse the uniforms. This is an awesome way to exchange outgrown uniforms or simply donate gently used uniforms. Our thanks to Kristy Ferguson for organizing this event.

Next Friday, May 30, all Lost and Found items left in the main hallway will be donated. Please remind your child/children to stop by and see if they have items to claim. Thank you!

The PTO is sponsoring a St. Cletus Day at Doozle’s on Friday, May 30. Join us from 12:00 – 10:00 PM. If you mention St Cletus, 15% of every order will be given to the PTO. Join us for a refreshing way to celebrate the end of the year!

If you are in need of information regarding the 1st Day School Supply kits, please contact the school office. The supply kits are being offered again by the PTO this year. There is a sample kit in the office if you would like to view one prior to purchasing. School Kits are mailed to your home prior to the first day of school. If you are in need of the information, please contact the school office for a second packet. Our thanks to Mrs. Lowery, and the PTO for organizing this service. School Supply list will be sent home through Fast Direct next week in case you are in need of an additional copy.

The PTO will be having a Uniform sale on Thursday, July 10, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. Mark your calendars to stop by the cafeteria!

Volleyball and Soccer registrations are coming to a close quickly. Volleyball registration will end on June 2, while Soccer registration has an additional week and will close on June 6. Please make sure to register if you are interested in playing.

This week’s STP Tip of the Week: Home Chef is now offering $50 physical gift cards in addition to their eGift Cards ($50-$250), earning 11% in rebates. Keep earning throughout the summer. Use the RaiseRight website and App to get digital gift cards on the go. You can purchase gift cards after all weekend masses. You can also text Jess Lister at 636-487-6248 to coordinate a pickup.

Organizations wishing to have information in the first envelope of the year will need to have all flyers to the school office by Thursday, July 24. The beginning of the year packet will be ready for pick-up on Thursday, July 1. Please pick-up your envelope prior to the first day of school. Thank you!

There is still much to do in preparation for the coming year and more details will be available at the beginning of the 2025 – 2026 School Year. I look forward to another successful year at St. Cletus and wish to thank everyone for their constant support and dedication to the children, faculty, and staff!

Please continue to spread the Good News about St. Cletus to those you meet throughout the summer!

Have a blessed and safe summer vacation!
Rosann Doherty
