Dear School Families:

This Sunday, September 22, the 2nd graders of the Parish will attend the 9:30 AM Mass with their families for their Mass of Commitment. This is the beginning of their preparation for the Sacraments they will receive this year. In late November, they will receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation and in May they will make their First Communion. Please keep the children in your prayers as they begin this special time in their spiritual formation. There will be donuts served in the School Cafeteria after Mass for the 2nd grade families. We are moving our donuts to the school cafeteria this year to give us more room to enjoy our time together. We look forward to seeing you on Sunday.

Next Tuesday, September 24, we will have Adoration and Benediction in the church at 2:10 PM. This is a wonderful prayer opportunity and a peaceful, fulfilling way to end the school day. We hope you are able to join us in prayer!

Join us on Wednesday, September 25, as we gather to celebrate with the individuals who have September Birthdays. We will begin at 7:50 AM in the gym - please join us if your schedule permits. This is also a Dress Down Day for everyone celebrating September Birthdays. Thank you!

Next Wednesday evening, September 25, the 8th Graders of our Parish, with their parents, will attend a Candidate and Parent Confirmation Meeting at 6:30 PM. These children are beginning their preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation which they will receive on Thursday, April 10. Please keep these children in your prayers during the coming months.

Next Thursday afternoon, September 26, we will have our first School Family Activity of the year. Throughout the year, our School Families – consisting of members from Kindergarten thru 8th Grade – will meet with their family teacher to participate in a variety of activities. This is a wonderful opportunity for the children and teachers to build community as they get to know each other better throughout the various grade levels. We are looking forward to working together with our school families throughout the year!

On Friday, October 4, we will celebrate Grandparents’ and Special Friends’ Day at St. Cletus. In the packet this week you will find an invitation for our Grandparents or Special Friends to join us in celebration at the All School Mass at 9:00 AM followed by breakfast and time with the children at school. Additional details about the day will be coming in future letters.

We are still in need of a number of families to complete the Parent/Teacher Conference form. Please return them to the school office as soon as possible. You will be receiving a confirmation note prior to the conference. Conferences will be held on Wednesday, October 9, from 3:10 – 6:00 PM and Thursday, October 10, from 6:00 – 9:00 PM. On Friday, October 11, we will have a noon dismissal due to the prior evening of conferences. We appreciate all sign-up forms being returned by the due date to assist us in scheduling the conferences. Thank you!

On Monday, September 23, from 3:00 – 4:00 PM we will have an AR Night at St. Cletus School. During an AR Night the library, computer room, and a classroom are available for students to stay after school to read with their friends and take AR tests. Children may bring snacks (from the available snack list) to have while reading or may purchase snacks from Student Council. This is a wonderful opportunity to read, take AR tests, and spend some time with friends. We look forward to reading with you on Monday.

In the envelope this week you will find a request regarding the Keys to Success program. Next Thursday and Friday the children will be visiting the Key Store. The children have a wonderful time at our Key Store. They are able to bring the keys they have earned throughout the year and purchase small items, participate in raffles, or earn rewards (ex: Dress Down Day, a 3-D printer object). We have our Key store approximately 6 times a year. In the packet today you will find a request for items for the store. We would greatly appreciate donations of small items for the store to help with our “inventory”. Items can be sent into the school office at any time during the year. Thank you so much for your help and support of this program! We appreciate your generosity.

We have had several requests to purchase additional T-shirts or long-sleeved T-shirts for this year’s theme –
St. Cletus Rooted in Christ. In the packet this week you will find an order form with information regarding these shirts. Please send completed orders, along with payment to the school office by Wednesday, October 9. Thank you!

Please consider signing up and helping! Our PTO does an excellent job of fostering community and bringing all members of our community together so we can be one parish. We appreciate your gift of time!

Book Fair dates for the upcoming Ignatius Book Fair can be found in the packet this week, along with a QR code for on-line ordering/information! Our Book Fair will be held in early October beginning on Grandparents’ Day. Thank you!
