St. Cletus ~ Rooted in Christ

Message Community Worship Service

October 2, 2025

Dear School Families:

I would like to thank everyone who donated to our Pennies from Heaven collection for the St. Vincent de Paul Society this past month. The children collected $831.29 school wide. We are grateful for the generosity of all our students. We would like to congratulate our 5th Graders for bringing in the most per child. Thank you for helping those in need!

The 8th Graders of our parish are in the beginning stages of their preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation which they will receive on Thursday, April 16. This Sunday, October 5, they will attend the 11:30 AM Mass of Commitment. After Mass there will be donuts in the School Cafeteria for the Confirmation candidates and their families. Please keep these children in your prayers during the coming months.

We are looking forward to celebrating the day tomorrow with our Grandparents and Special Friends. We begin the day praying with our Kindergarten through 8th Grade at our 8:15 All School Mass. Grandparents and Special Friends are invited to sit with the children. As the classes enter the church, the children may join their guests. If for some reason the children’s guest is not able to join them for Mass the children will sit with their homeroom teacher and will meet up with their Grandparent or Special Friend back in their homeroom. We ask that the parents of Kindergarten and First Graders tell the Grandparents and Special Friends where the children sit for an All School Mass and go to that area to meet them. Hopefully this will help the small ones feel more comfortable in what could be overwhelming for them. Following Mass, Grandparents and Special Friends will meet up with the children in the classroom of the youngest child – Preschool through 8th Grade, any siblings or cousins will be coming to that room to meet them also. It would help for the morning to run smoothly if you would please remind your older children what room they should be going to in order to meet their Grandparent or Special Friend. During the morning there will be three sessions for our honored guests. They will be able to see our classrooms, tour the school, visit the Book Fair, play a game in the gym, and enjoy breakfast treats. We are looking forward to sharing St. Cletus with our special guests! After the completion of the scheduled morning activities, the children will return to their homerooms for the remainder of the morning. We will dismiss at noon. If any of the Grandparents’ or Special Friends will be taking the children home, please make sure they are listed on your emergency card or send us a Fast Direct giving them permission. Our thanks to the PTO, Heather Behrmann, Megan Dunkmann, and all the volunteers for making this day possible! We are looking forward to celebrating the day tomorrow with our Grandparents and Special Friends.

Next Monday, October 6, at 2:20 PM we will have a Pet Blessing on the field for the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi. Last week we sent home a form asking to let us know if you planned on bringing your pet to school. Please make sure we have received the form by tomorrow or send us a Fast Direct message. We look forward to seeing you there!

In the envelope this week you will find information regarding our Pet Memorial Garden, located near the St. Rose Philippine Duchesne statue at the end of the field across from the rectory, and creating a Memorial Stone for your pet. You can supply your own stone or purchase one at the school office for $1.00. We are grateful to the St. Dorothy Garden Group for creating this wonderful memorial for our fur friends. Thank you!

Next Wednesday, October 8, we will celebrate those individuals who have October Birthdays. We will begin the day with the Birthday Blessing. Please join us if your schedule allows. All of our Birthday celebrants are able to have a Dress Down Day on Wednesday in honor of their special day! Thank you!

Our Help Pave the Path to Play Program has begun. I would like to thank those individuals who have purchased a brick already! Throughout the coming months we will be keeping everyone updated on our progress of the playground plans.

It has been a wonderful 1st quarter! The children have put forth their best effort and we are extremely proud of every one of them! Report Cards will be available for viewing on Fast Direct on Wednesday, October 8. You will have the opportunity to view your child’s/children’s report card prior to Parent/Teacher conferences that afternoon and the next day. Your child/children received your conference confirmation slip today. Please look for it to confirm your conference time – thank you! We look forward to seeing you at conferences on Wednesday afternoon and Thursday evening!

Tomorrow our Well-Loved Book Fair begins - thank you for all your donations! The Book Fair will be held during Grandparents’ & Special Friends’ Day, after this weekend Masses, children will visit during the school day, and it will be open during Parent -Teacher Conferences. Please note that for children to visit the Book Fair, they must bring money. Since there may only be single copies of books, puzzles, games, etc. children will not be making lists. Our thanks to Tara Florek, Sharon Yates, Scott Florek and the PTO for organizing this event!! All proceeds from the Book Fair go to purchasing books for our Library. We appreciate your support!!!

Due to the Library being used for the Book Fair next week, there will be no Makerspace on Monday and Thursday, October 6 & 9. Thank you!

Next Wednesday and Thursday, during Parent-Teacher Conferences, the Lost and Found will be displayed in the center hallway of school. Please take time to stop by the table and check for any lost items. Any items left on Friday afternoon will be donated. Thank you!

We have had several requests to purchase additional T-shirts or long-sleeved T-shirts and crew neck sweatshirts for this year’s theme – Anchored by Faith. In the packet this week you will find an order form with information regarding these shirts. Please send completed orders, along with payment to the school office by Tuesday, October 28. Thank you!

In the envelope this week you will find a flyer regarding St. Cletus Night at Panda Express next Tuesday, October 7, from 10:00 AM – 9:30 PM. Panda Express will donate 20% percent of all purchases to the St. Cletus PTO. A wonderful way to support our school and have a night off from cooking! Thank you!

In the envelope this week you will find a flyer regarding Trunk or Treat. Trunk or Treat will be held on Friday, October 24. This is a wonderful evening where families come together, and the children can trick-or-treat in a safe environment. The evening will begin at 6:00 PM and end at 9:00 PM. Our thanks to Jennifer Brown, Lauren Grzyb, and Nancy Messina and the PTO for sponsoring this event; this is a wonderful evening for families and members of the St. Cletus community to have a frightfully good evening. We look forward to an evening of Not So Scary Halloween fun!

In the packet this week you find a flyer for the St. Cletus Cheer Squad. All Kindergarten through 8th Graders are invited to join.

In the packet this week you will find a flyer with PTO Volunteer opportunities in the coming months. Please consider signing up and helping! Our PTO does an excellent job of fostering community and bringing all members of our community together so we can be one parish. We appreciate your gift of time!
