St. Cletus ~ Rooted in ChristMessage Community Worship Service
October 30, 2025 Dear School Families:
I hope everyone had a wonderful Fall Intersession. It seems hard to believe that we are now in the second quarter of school. The coming months can be very busy with life’s usual activities, along with the many holidays and festivities which will soon be approaching. In the coming months it will be important to balance work and play in everyone’s schedule.
Please remember to send in your page for the Book of Remembrance which will be on display throughout the month of November. This is a wonderful opportunity for us to remember in our daily prayers all the loved ones in our lives who are no longer with us. The form was sent home prior to the Fall Intersession. There is an additional form in the envelope this week. Thank you for your participation!
As in years past, the School Community will be making an altar for Dia De Los Muertos. Dia De Los Muertos is celebrated with prayer and remembrance for our loved ones who have died. In the U.S.A, this holiday runs from October 31st through November 2nd. This is a wonderful way for our students to gain extra cultural awareness, so we would encourage everyone to participate! Our prayer table will be set up on the first of November, and will be up through Friday, November 12th. Please feel free to send in a FRAMED picture of a loved one who has passed (preferably 5x7 or smaller). Thanks so much for helping us build on this tradition.
The Kindergarten through 8th Grade will be bringing home their results of the NWEA testing from the 1st quarter. We are in the second year of the Archdiocese implementing the NWEA testing throughout all Archdiocesan schools. The NWEA MAP Growth Assessment is computer adaptive, meaning that the test is dynamic and adjusts the difficulty of questions based on a student’s responses. The questions begin at grade level, and as a student gets questions correct or incorrect, the test adapts above or below grade level to find the student’s ability level. The test is designed to have students experience questions that increase in difficulty so that nearly 50% of the questions are new or unknown information. While this is a struggle for students at times, we feel the test with its adaptive nature will provide us with information on promoting individual student and class growth, supporting student needs, and getting more frequent feedback on the impact of our instructional practices. The children did an excellent job during this testing period.
Throughout the week of November 10, we will be collecting canned goods and nonperishable items for the Thanksgiving Food Drive. All items collected will be given to the St. Vincent de Paul Society so others will have the opportunity to enjoy the holiday season. Each day we will announce a “Mystery Food” over the morning announcements. Any child bringing in the mystery food that day will be called to the office for a surprise. Thank you for your support!
Join us tomorrow to see the 8th Graders Haunted House beginning at 8:00 AM. If you happen to be there at approximately 8:15 AM, you’ll be able to see the Preschool and Kindergarten Halloween Parade. Later in the morning, the children will celebrate at their Halloween Parties. Thank you for everything you have done to make the morning so special. Thank you and Happy Trick-or-Treating!
Please share the news of Our Help Pave the Path to Play Program! We have 42 bricks which is a wonderful start for our program. I would like to thank those individuals who have purchased a brick already! Please know that bricks can be purchased by individuals going together, by classes, in memory of or as a challenge between different groups, etc. Individuals can also donate without purchasing a brick. We appreciate everyone’s commitment to helping us provide a new playground for the children.
I would like to ask you to help during the weekends when we have games and the cafeteria is open. Over the intersession, we had a weekend where there were over a dozen ceiling tiles dislocated. After reviewing the video, we saw there were balls being thrown and tossed too high – even an incident where adults were aiming at the ceiling to knock something down. None of the individuals were members of St. Cletus, but we ask that if you see someone throwing balls in the cafeteria, or anything that can cause damage, you ask them to respect our property. Thank you so much for your help in this matter!
We look forward to seeing you at the PTO Meeting on Thursday, November 6. This is a wonderful way to meet fellow families and become involved in activities at school. The meeting will begin at 6:30 PM but join us at 6:00 PM for a social. Babysitting will be provided! We look forward to seeing you there!
There is still time to join in the fun at the 90’s Music Bingo, on Saturday, November 8, at 6:30 PM. In the envelope this week you will find a flyer about the event. Our thanks to Hanna Graczyk, Thea Trynock, and the PTO for sponsoring this event. Enjoy an evening with friends, listening to a variety of music, enjoying each other’s company, and having a chance at prizes! Looking forward to seeing you there!
