St. Cletus ~ Rooted in Christ

Message Community Worship Service

April 30, 2026

Dear School Families:

We are looking forward to celebrating the Feast of St. Joseph the Worker with all of you tomorrow, May 1. We will be sending treats home to all our parents and parishioners who will be attending Mass with us and at dismissal we will be sending home treats. It is our way of saying thank you to everyone for their constant support. We are extremely grateful for the amount of service all of you, as well as our extended families, provide throughout the year. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all the help and support you provide us daily.

This Saturday, May 2, our Second Graders will make their First Communion. The children and their families have been in our prayers throughout the past months and we are happy for them as their special day approaches.

On Tuesday, May 5, we will celebrate the May and June Birthday Blessing. Please join us in honoring the birthday celebrants if your schedule allows. All our May and June Birthday celebrants are able to have a Dress Down Day on Tuesday in honor of their special day! Thank you!

Next Wednesday, May 6, we will join together for the May Crowning and Living Rosary at 2:00 PM in the Church. I would like to thank Mrs. Bognar and Mrs. Zancanata for organizing this event. Please join us in praying the Rosary together – it is a wonderful way to celebrate Mary in the month of May. Thank you!

Kindergarten screening for the 2026 – 2027 School Year will begin Tuesday, May 5. We look forward to meeting our future St. Cletus students! If you know of anyone interested in attending St. Cletus, please share this information with them. We are always happy to provide information and tours of the school to interested families. The best way to spread the good news about St. Cletus is through word of mouth.

Next Thursday, May 7, the Consolidated Catholic Schools’ Band (CCSB) will be touring the surrounding elementary schools to perform for the students. We are excited to have them perform for us at 8:30 AM. This is a wonderful opportunity for the children to hear the band and see their classmates perform. Please join us for the concert if your schedule allows. All 4th – 8th Graders have the opportunity to join the CCSB. Joining the band is a wonderful way for children to explore their talents and enjoy the fine arts! Please consider having your child/children participate in the band in the future.

Our Speech Team did a great job at the final Bellarmine speech meet of the year. Our duet of Megan Nikodem and Addie Ley brought home trophies, and Chloe Ung earned a blue ribbon for her Serious speech as did Lucy Hamer for her Humorous speech. Thank you for representing St. Cletus so well! We are so proud of all of them!

The month of May can be extremely busy, especially in addition to the typical school activities. I would like to point out a few important dates to mark on your calendar for the month of May. On Wednesday, May 13, we will have our Spring Concert at 10:45 AM. This was moved to the morning due to our noon dismissal. There will be a noon dismissal on Wednesday, May 13, and no classes on Thursday, May 14, and Friday, May 15, for the Parish Picnic set-up. May 18 will be the last day of classes for the 8th Grade. Our 8th Graders will be graduating on Tuesday evening, May 19.

I would like to thank everyone who has sent in their donations for the Glow Run. This was a wonderful activity to support our playground. Children have until next Friday, May 8, to turn in their donations – we have already raised over $1,500.00. We would like to thank you for supporting this event and helping us raise funds for our playground. My thanks to Marianne Prather and the Playground Committee for sponsoring this fun event!

There is one week left to order a 2025 – 2026 St. Cletus School Yearbook. If you would like a yearbook, you can order online (by using the QR code on the order form) or by completing the form and returning it to the school office by Friday, May 8. Thank you!

We would like to thank the members of School Board whose term ends this year - our thanks to Heather Behrmann, Luke Meyer, and Tony Scoggin for the gift of their time and talents throughout the years. We would like to welcome Brian Holke, Katie Nikodem, and Becky Williamson as our new board members. We look forward to working together in the coming years.

Mrs. Prather and our 8th Graders have planned a wonderful Field Day for next Friday. Please join us if your schedule allows. The events begin at 9:00 AM with lunch at 11:30 AM, followed by a relay with the students’ school families and ending with the 8th grade/faculty/staff Balloon Toss. Dismissal will be at 1:00 PM.

There is still time to order lunch for Field Day next week. In the packet you will find the information. Please make sure your order is completed by Tuesday morning. The PTO provides lunch for all of our students, but families planning on attending the Field Day have the opportunity to purchase lunch. Thanks to Men’s Club and the PTO for providing lunch!

Our thanks to the PTO for providing all the students, faculty, and staff Field Day shirts. They look amazing! The shirts were sent home this past Tuesday. We are looking forward to a fun-filled day!

Mattingly’s has generously given us two St. Cletus Days - Tuesday, May 5, & Wednesday, May 6 for the entire day. You must present the flyer, found in today’s packet, at the time of order for 20% of sales to be counted towards St. Cletus. Thank you for supporting us!

Grab your hiking boots and take a step through the misty air of Rainforest Falls, overflowing with wild waterfalls, towering trees, and colorful creatures. Beneath a canopy of chattering birds and howling monkeys, children plunge into a lifelong adventure of discovering the nature of God. They'll explore what it means to be rooted in relationship with God, their creator, a refuge in life's storms. Registration has begun for this tropical adventure during the week of June 8 - 12. Children entering Kindergarten through 5th Grade are invited to join the adventure. 6th Graders and up are invited to sign-up to be a volunteer. Come join the adventure by following this link – vbspro.events/p/saintcletus and look forward to an adventurous week in under a canopy adventure this summer!

Please share the news of Our Help Pave the Path to Play Program! We have sold 108 bricks, which is wonderful. I would like to thank those individuals who have purchased a brick already! Please know that bricks can be purchased by individuals going together, by classes, in memory of or as a challenge between different groups, etc. Individuals can also donate without purchasing a brick. We appreciate everyone’s commitment to helping us provide a new playground for the children.

As you may know, the Parish Picnic has included a 50/50 Raffle in past years. This year, it was changed to a new format, and your family and children have the option to help us sell tickets. This is not a mandatory request, but the Parish is offering a class party for the class that sells the most tickets. In addition to the class party an added incentive to the class who sells the most Mega raffle tickets per student is a class dress down day.

In no time at all the Parish Picnic will be upon us! The Picnic will run on Friday, May 15, 5:00 – 11:00 PM, and Saturday, May 16, 11:00 AM – 10:00 PM. The Cornhole Tournament will be held on Saturday, May16, at 4:00 PM. You will find information in the envelope this week regarding all aspects of the Parish Picnic. There are many opportunities to help the Parish put on the best picnic ever! The flyers provide information on becoming a sponsor and the Parish Picnic 50/50 Raffle. We ask you to visit sign-up genius to sign-up to assist in working at least one shift during the picnic. It is always exciting for the students to play the games and win prizes at the Parish Picnic. You will find a Wish List flyer for the game booths. There are so many ways to volunteer and join together to support our Parish. Thank you for your help! We are looking forward to a fun-filled festive weekend!

Information regarding arm bands for the Picnic rides can be found in the packet this week. Please note that Arm Bands are available for advanced purchase only.

The PTO would like to thank everyone for their time, talent, and energy that was given throughout the year in order to make St. Cletus such a wonderful, faith filled, family-oriented environment!! Our thanks to everyone who volunteered at all of our events! Please join us for dinner at 6:00 PM on Thursday evening, May 7. Following dinner, we will have our last PTO meeting at 6:30 PM. Our thanks to the PTO for everything they accomplished and planning a celebratory dinner for all. We look forward to seeing you at the meeting!
