The spring concert was so adorable. I’m so thankful for Dr. Cooper and for the beautiful singing from your kids.

Our last big event of the year is our Panther Play Day. A form was sent home for you to sign up to help for the day. We need a lot of helpers to make it a success. Contact Laura Bess if you would like to come and help that day.

Please read to your children over the summer. Let them draw or paint what they see in God’s beautiful world. Have them do self portraits of them doing their favorite things. Have them write notes to a family member, a friend, a neighbor… Continue to listen for beginning sounds and recognizing letters.

Jesus Time:Our story this week is called, “The Man from Africa.” We will see how God used this man and each of us to share His word with others. Bible Words: He preached good news about Jesus Christ. Acts 8:12

Center/Table Time: We will be doing a few sight words. Please hang onto these so you can continue to look for them in books that you read. Let your child write them on note cards or post notes.

Once again we will try to do an art painting inspired by Wassily Kandinsky. It will be an abstract painting. Kandinsky suffered from synesthesia. It's a rare but real condition in which one sense, like hearing, concurrently triggers another sense, such as sight. People with synesthesia might smell something when they hear a sound, or see a shape when they eat a certain food. Kandinsky literally saw colors when he heard music, and heard music when he painted.

Fun summer ideas: keep practicing their first and last names, help them learn their address and phone number, let them draw, paint, cut and create… Give them a large box to play with and make it into a spaceship, a pirate ship, a house, an ice cream parlor… Help them to stay creative by offering open ended activities. Have them count small items for you, such as: pennies, small bears, pennies, petals on a flower, seashells, lightning bugs…
