5th Grade Lit:

~ This year we will be exploring several novels that I am SO excited about!

~Novel Studies will be similar to how we did them in 4th grade. Students will work their way through the books with me and will complete a variety of tasks (some as a class, some on their own)to check for comprehension.

~Homework should not occur often as classtime and study hall time is given to complete tasks

~As before, there will be supplemental religion tasks. Students will have a religion lesson with me once a week and then have a week to complete the assignment linked to that lesson (just like we did in 4th grade)

5th Grade Science:

~We have a new Science series this year in 5th grade!

~Students will not have a "textbook" but rather unit packets that will go in their Science binders.

6th Grade Lit:

6th Grade Science:

~This year in Science we will be working with the newest edition of the Science series we have used over the years.

~I look forward to many experiments and exciting topics this year!

~Weekly Research Papers will be completed this year. These are on fun Science topics (typically not in the textbook or are an extension of a topic from the book) that get the students thinking and coming to their own conclusions about things in the world. All of these will be completed and posted in Google Classroom. (typically they require two paragraphs to complete the task)

~ In lieu of chapter tests, each quarter the students will complete a quarter project. The projects will be assigned at the start of the quarter and will be due at the end (giving them the entire quarter to complete it).

~6th Grade is my homeroom this year so we will have a field trip (or trips) as well!

~I am planning a Science Fair for 6th-7th this year also! (details to come later)

7th Science

~I am so sad this group is graduating this year but I am SO happy to have them again in class!
