What we are learning this week:
Reading/ ELA: The story this week is called What’s the Matter? We will go over what is matter. We will discuss what the three kids of matter are.
We will think and talk about the question How does exploring help us understand the world around us?
We will listen to a read aloud called The Important Book. .
Power Words – hollow, petals, ticklish, tender, splashes, sail
Phonics – words with digraphs ck,ng,ph
Vocabulary Strategy – synonyms
Comprehension Strategy –we will go over author’s purpose, central idea, making inferences, content area words
Writing – Research
Spelling: words with digraphs ck,ng,ph
Grammar: Nouns for people, places, animals, and things
Religion: Session 3. We will be learning about the special meal Jesus shared with his disciples at the Last Supper. We will learn about Ordinary Time where its the time to be fed by Jesus, the Bread of Life. Ordinary Time is a time to grow in the knowledge and love of Jesus. We will learn our new vocabulary words: Bread of Life, chasuble, liturgical year, and vestments.
Math-We will begin Chapter 2- Use place value to count and Compare
2.1 Counting patterns within 100
2.2 Counting Patterns within 1,000
2.3 Count on and count back by 10 and 100
2.4 Compare Numbers
Social Studies- We will begin Lesson 2 How are Communities different?
- We will discuss the difference between rural, suburban, and urban communities
- Compare and contract features of different types of communities
- Determine the location and population of rural, suburban, and urban communities
- We will talk about the advantages and disadvantages each community has
