UPDATES- 8th grade MSI Field Trip on Thursday, October 24th. What is your student currently learning in science class? In 7th grade, we are well into our cell biology unit, now focusing on the cell membrane and cell transport mechanisms. QUIZ approaching. In 8th grade, we are well into our chemistry unit, now learning about valence electrons and lewis dot structures. QUIZ approaching. In 6th grade, we are wrapping up our first unit, states of matter. Students have one more lesson, and then we will begin review for their first test. TEST in their very near future. Classroom Expectations In order for a superior learning environment to be created and maintained, each student must take responsibility for their own behavior. All students will be required to follow all classroom/school rules and procedures at all times. This helps ensure a safe and effective learning environment for everyone. Classroom Rules Students MUST come to class prepared and on time. Students are required to bring these materials listed below to class with them everyday: A notebook to write in (preferably have a dedicated science notebook) Pen or pencil Chromebook (charged and ready to use) Science textbook Repeated failure to come to class prepared, equipped with the materials listed above, will result in disciplinary action— including loss of participation points which will negatively impact the student’s grade, as well as possible demerit if this problem persists. Students will sit in their assignment seats when class begins, and remain seated in their assigned seat throughout the entire class unless given other directions by the teacher. Students must pay attention, participate, and follow all directions as given. All homework/assignments should be completed and turned in on the assigned due date. Each student should maintain a positive and respectful attitude. Absentee Make-up work: A student who acquires an absence has the responsibility to find out what the missed assignments were for the day(s) missed. They can email me, fast direct message me, or come talk to me at any point upon their return to school. The student has one day for each day absent to complete the work missed. Student may come talk to me and ask for a greater extension if there is extenuating circumstances. If a child will have a premeditated extended absence, it is preferred for them to touch base with me and request work prior to their departure. Late work and/or incomplete assignments: Incomplete work will NOT be accepted. Any and all late work will be accepted— late work will be graded and given a deserving grade based upon teacher discretion. My rule of thumb is that the later the assignment comes in, the more points will be deducted from the overall grade of that assignment.
