Mrs. Gavin's P3 Class Monday, April 22nd-Thursday, April 25th This week I will be sending home a packet with 3 lined sheets for your children to practice printing their first name at home. The packet will include the correct formation of each letter in the alphabet as a reminder. Please encourage your child to do their best work! We will be working one on one with each child at school. Friendly reminders when working on tracing/printing their name: -sit up straight with tummy to the table -hold your crayon firmly in your rest pocket with your dominant hand -use your helper hand to hold the paper in place -press firmly on your paper so you can visually see the letter you are forming -remember that letters always start at the top -say the strokes as you make each letter formation -take your time and do your best work LETTER OF THE WEEK: Upper case Y -Introduce the letter, the sound, and how it is formed -Formation of the letter Y: Slant right. Slant left. Pull down. -Add on Song: Y is for Yarn -Add Big Man Y to our letter train -Letter Bag: objects that begin with the letter Y WEEKLY THEME: Building a Better World, Happy Earth Day! The 3 R's: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle -What is Reduce? What can we use less of? (paper towel, napkin, etc.) -What is Reuse? What can we reuse again? (water bottle, bento box, etc.) -What is Recycling? reusing things to make new things in order to have less garbage. (newspaper, cardboard, metal, glass, etc.) Litter, (New vocabulary word): trash that has been thrown on the ground. How can we keep our community clean? Clean up after yourself, clean up after others. -Lets' do our part and clean up around our school! The children attend music every Tuesday and Wednesday. LIBRARY: Mrs. Burke is our librarian. The children attend Library every Monday. This is a special day to showcase and celebrate all that we have learned through a traditional Preschool Program. We will be presenting the children their "Certificate of Preschool Completion" and singing some favorite songs for you to enjoy! (Room 19 children should arrive at school by 8:45 a.m and our program will begin at 9:15 in Providence Hall,(Dismissal from our classroom after the program).
