"WE SHINE WHEN WE ARE KIND"

Week of April 14th-17th

We hope you all had a wonderful Easter. I saw some of your darling pictures of you and your beautiful family pictures on this blessed holiday.

Mrs. Stewart and I came together today in the classroom to gather work for our next 2 weeks on our new theme of the "FARM". Of course social distancing and wearing our gloves and a mask. We also were coming up with some new ideas going forward for organizing our daily routines. When we left our classroom we came home to have a ZOOM meeting with Mrs. Galluzzo and PS-3rd grade teachers to share and get support from what one another about teaching these days.

Mrs. Galluzzo will be setting up a pick up time for Friday 4/17 to get packets for the next 2 weeks of classroom work. This information should be coming to you shortly from Mrs. G.

This week's agenda:

(This week's ZOOM sharing theme will be to read a book with farm animals, find your favorite page of the book, and favorite animal and share that with us)

Tuesday 4/14: *HAPPY BIRTHDAY ETHAN NOAKES!!!!

*In-Service Classroom Packet Work

*Teacher Meeting

Wednesday 4/15: *In-Service Classroom Packet Work

*Look for a YouTube video for calendar work, math work, flower
counting poem project, story time

*Check FD for tomorrow's individual 10 minute time ZOOM slot

Thursday 4/16: *Look for a Youtube video for calendar work, math work, leprechaun
hat project, story time

*ZOOM meeting (if available) starting at 2:00pm to share a story
you read with a farm animal and your favorite page to kick start
our new "Farm Theme"

Friday 4/17: *Send any pictures to me for our weekly picture show by noon
(314)960-0194 to share.

*Look for a YouTube video for calendar work, story time and a game

Mrs. Stewart and I were also thinking of starting a weekly schedule that may resemble this:

* 2-3 days that include a Youtube instructional video

* Setting up Tuesday and Thursday as our ZOOM meetings so we can split up our
classroom and have more time. These meetings will include sharing our literacy
project for the week. (You will find these in our packets)

* Our weekly picture show of what you are up to this week.

If at anytime you have any suggestions or comments about how this is all working for your child please feel free to contact us.

SOMETHING FUN TO SHARE:

Dollar Store is the place for items for these fun activities

You-Tube has many great read aloud books to share with your child. Listen and watch any of these books. Each student can draw a picture about each book that represents the story and have them share the picture and story recap with you.

Math Fun and Sorting Fun: Have students go out in the yard and grab sticks, rocks or gumballs. Give them 3 minutes with a bag and have them run out for a fast find. When the timer goes off have them run back inside. They can start counting these items and putting them into piles of 1-10 or 1-20.

They can also put these items into small patterns, sort them by size and similarities.

Letter Fun: Pick a couple letters that your child is familiar with and have them try to find anything around them that starts with that letter. Have them really show you that they can pronounce that first sound.

Following Directions: Give your child 2-3 step instructions. Have them repeat them back to you and then have them search for these items and putting them in order from your original request.

Tracing Fun: Get a highlighter and write shapes, letters or numbers or even their names. Since highlighters are lighter have them trace these over with a dark marker or crayon and they can feel successful staying on the lines and seeing what is really hidden behind that yellow marker.

Feel free to work on any part of our packet work in any order.

JOB of the DAY: Each child this week should take a day to be in charge of starting prayer before any meal, "Snack Helper" by passing out napkins and counting them out for each member of their family, Librarian- have your child choose 1 or 2 books for the day to be read in the family for the day, "Teacher Helper"- when there is something to be done around the house that is appropriate for them call on your little helper.

Show and Share Day: Choose a day this week and have your child find something that they would like to share with the family and have them think prior to sitting in a special spot about what they are going to say.

Talent Show Day: Have your child on their own or with a sibling come up with a 3-5 minute skit.

GOD BLESS,
Mrs. Travers, Mrs. Stewart, Mrs. Sadlo
