Welcome!
A priority is to keep students safe while exploring the Internet and using on-line resources. All grades will discuss Acceptable Use which covers cyber bullying, accessing appropriate Internet sites, and what to do if they come across something that is inappropriate while on the Internet, or if they see a classmate misusing technology. Acceptable use also takes into account plagiarism, and care of the technology students are using.
Keyboarding is still an important skill. In this world of small gadgets, and texting short-cuts, students still need to be able to type a report and to create online material. It is so much easier, and faster, if students are using both hands (and the correct fingers) to type!
In addition to keyboarding, the technology curriculum includes: computer coding, spreadsheets, creating presentations, using a variety of applications, and caring for equipment.
We will be reading a variety of stories, implementing STEM skills, and playing games, as we explore the different reading genres, learn about the different areas of the library, and develop research skills.
Caring for books is so important. When books are cared for, others have the same opportunity to check them out. Clean hands, and no food or drinks when reading keep the books clean. Please keep library books in the same area (backpacks, top of a table, or a homework area) so that they are easy to find and can be brought back on time. K - 2 check out books for one week at a time; 3 - 6 graders check books out for two weeks at a time. They can always renew their books if they need more time.

If something happens to a book, do not try to fix it yourself. Let me know, and often I can repair it.
