Welcome Back!

I hope everyone got to enjoy their summer. I, for one, am looking forward to another great year. It’s hard to believe that this group is embarking upon their final year at Sacred Heart School. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome each one of you, parents and students alike, and to brief you on some expectations I have for this coming year.


I will be updating grades on Fast Direct on as regular a basis as I can. I will be communicating all necessary updates, notes, etc via Fast Direct. I also post to my Calendar and Bulletin board on a regular basis.

I want you to know that I do expect my students to act appropriately at all times. As 8th graders, they actually have to be even more aware of their words and actions, because the younger students in our school who look up to them. These little ones really look up to and want to act like the older kids, so I think it’s very important for my class to realize the influence they have on others.

As far as field trips and a class trip go; that is all tentative for now. I have already begun the new Specialty License Plate fundraiser for our class and it has done well! I was looking for a way to raise funds for our trip without asking parents to sell more stuff... work smarter, not harder and all :) We will be running a fall/winter fundraiser as well to cover expenses for our class trip. November - we will be selling Advent Calendars and then Popcorn around February. The popcorn sales will be the only "active sales" event for us this year.

I realize what a transitional year this will be for my students. Some days they will feel like young adults; other days, they just want to be kids. My goal is to not only prepare my students for high school academically, but to take each day as it comes and help each one of them grow spiritually, emotionally, and responsibly as well.
