Q:     How do I mark a student who is not in the building but not absent?

A: When a student is not at the school but is not considered absent (field trip, shadowing, etc), there are two options for how to handle this in Monitor: Option 1 Mark the students as Absent the day of the field trip. This will make sure that your Census count is accurate for that day. The following day, go into Monitor and change the day to edit to the day of the field trip. Change the field trip students from Absent to Present. This will make sure that their attendance will not be incorrect. Option 2 Mark the student as Absent the day of the field trip but then also use a feature called 'Medical Attendance' (which needs to be turned on by HelpDesk). This feature allows you to flag any absent student as 'Medical Attendance'. Medical Attendance will reflect that the student is not in the building, which is needed for Census but will not count it as a true absence in the student's attendance tallies.  Please reference the FAQ on how to apply a Medical Attendance to an absence in Monitor.
