Q:     How can I create a group of students for Cafeteria that pay a different price than the other students?
A: When managing your Lunch program in FastDirect, you currently have 5 program groups you can use for Free, Reduced, Preschool, Staff etc. To create or fill a lunch program group, go to Cafteria, then Manage the Free/Reduced lunch program.  If you are unable to see this option, please have the principal contact HelpDesk and request that you have this feature.

In the box labeled Lunch Programs, there will be 5 group available.  Typically, the fist two group will be reserved for Free and Reduced.  You can edit any of the 5 group and name them to fit your school's needs.  For this example, we will create a group for students in grades 6-8, as they will be paying a lunch price that is slightly higher than the other students.  Here are the steps to create, edit, and assign students to a lunch programe group:
  1. In one of the available lunch group fields, type in the name of the group, such as '6-8'
  2. In the second column, check mark the option for 'Print Real Price on Order Sheet' (if you are creating a Free or Reduced group, we recommend you uncheck this option to respect the students' privacy)
  3. In the column on the right, click 'Save Changes'
  4. At the top of the page, look for the box labeled 'Participants'. At the bottom of this box (below the columns), look for the line that reads 'Add Student to Lunch Program:'
  5. Select a student's name that will need to be included in the new lunch group you have created, such as a student that is in the 6th, 7th, or 8th grade.
  6. To the right of the select student drop down, there is another drop down for the different lunch group.  Select program you created, for example '6-8'
  7. Click the 'Add' button
  8. Up above, under the column for the group you have created, you will see the name of the student you just added.  Repeat these steps to continue adding students to any of the necessary groups
