Q:     How does monitor figure the total of present students versus how census does it?

A: Census subtracts missing students whether they are absent or excused. Then it subtracts students who's school day is completed (who have already gone home). Monitor subtracts unexcused absences, but not excused. It then subtracts tardy students.
