Joshua 1:9

Week of September 21, 2026

Dear Parents, we had a great time with apples week last week! Lots of fun and learning are taking place and I am so proud to see each students progress this early in the school year!

Religion: We worked with our school theme (Be strong and courageous. Joshua 1:9) and we will be learning about Abraham. God Blesses Abraham Genesis 12:1-9.

Reading/Writing: We are working on print concepts, letters and proper letter formations. We are practicing the difference between letters, numbers and words. We will be focusing on ABC letter recognition including uppercase/lowercase matching, rhyming words, syllables and story elements. We get to meet the first character in our reading program…Mya!
We continue to learn a letter a day and this week it is R-T.

Math: We are continuing to use math tools (counting bears, pattern blocks, linking cubes). We are introducing proper number formation and counting. We also work on calendar skills, including days of the week, days in school and concepts of time. We will make “Number Monsters” this week. Look for your students project in the hall!

Other: We will be continuing to learn about Our Five Senses and weather/seasons will be introduced too! We incorporate themes of friendship and community members throughout the day in discussion and read aloud.

At Home: Parents can always practice basic counting 1-20, read aloud, and work on holding pencils, scissors, crayons and markers. Please remember you can always contact me with any concerns or questions throughout the week.

Chapel offerings for August-October: Will be for Lutheran Heritage Foundation. There is more information in a Tiger Talk newsletter about this organization.
