Spelling Bee News!

On Friday we will be having classroom Spelling Bees; all students received a list to look over. The final two spellers in each class will advance to the school wide Spelling Bee on Thursday, 1/12/23.

Christmas Party!

On Wednesday we will be having an 8th grade party with snacks, activities, and a movie!

This week in ELA we will be working with My Perspectives and Grammar and Writing in class. Homework assignments will be posted updated throughout the week on my bulletin.

7GO - My Perspectives read "Two Kinds" (pages 13-24) and answer the 5 Comprehension questions on page 25. Due 9/27
7J - Exercises 1 and 2 on page 158 in the Grammar for Writing book. Due 9/27
6H - Finish "Brown Girl Dreaming" on page 13. Respond to the four comprehension questions on page 19. Due 9/27.

ELA HOMEWORK: Read the short story on pages 6 and 7 in My Perspectives. Then, write the summary and respond to the quickwrite on pages 8 and 9. Due tomorrow.

9/19/22 Harvest Fair is approaching quickly! As part of the fair, we are making 'Buckets of Fun'. Students in each grade are encouraged to bring in donations for said buckets. 8th grade is welcome to donate gift cards to local coffee shops, restaurants, movie theaters, etc.

What a great first full week it has been!

In ELA, we started our vocabulary work and My Perspectives. On Friday, 9/23, we will all have our first vocabulary test.

Happy Friday!

Next week in ELA we will need our vocabulary books. Bring them on Monday. Each vocabulary unit is 2 weeks long, with a game of Jeopardy and a test at the end. We will also being using My Perspectives towards the end of the week.
Our Red Bandanna project will be wrapping up this week. ROUGH DRAFTS for the reflection and prayer are due MONDAY!

We have a dress down day on Tuesday, September 13. Please bring in $2 to donate to the fund.

I hope everyone enjoyed their Labor Day/long weekend! This week, we are diving into "The Red Bandana". We will be discussing 9/11 in our ELA and Religion classes as well. In ELA, we will also be starting our grammar unit.

Our goal: Use appropriate voice levels in class, especially during lessons!
