Happy Spring!

Please bid on auction items! The online auction closes at 3pm on Saturday, May 4. These items are not available during the adult event. During the dance, there will be 9 new items for silent auction. I hope that our classroom creation brings in a substantial donation to the school. The children worked so hard on it. My Teacher of the Day, which I started seven years ago, is off to a slow start. It is a cherished memory for all involved. Joe Mullen, a Cheverus senior, was my first "teacher." He's here completing his Arrupe project this month. The lucky student plans the day with me to include all of their favorite activities. This has always raised a lot of money for the school. I hope this year is as profitable as past years.

I am very proud of my class for their NWEA math scores! I noticed that every student demonstrated growth from the winter test. Today is the reading test, and it is much more demanding of their attention and focus. While they do not like it, they still need to strive to do their best.

This spring, I am seeing improvements in grammar as demonstrated in daily edits and parts of speech practice. I am pleased to see their efforts rewarded. It is truly a subject that is so beneficial across the curriculum.

The materials for the marble runs should be collected each day until the week of May 13th. Students will be assigned a partner to collaborate a design to fulfill specific criteria and constraints. This is one of the most fun activities!

Thanks for the boxes. I am collecting quite a stash. One of these days I really will need to start packing. It is overwhelming to move all that I have collected over the years in this room, but it is always good to start fresh in a new spot.

Next week I will be out for Thursday and Friday for personal days. Mrs. McCuller will be here. When Mrs. Braginton covered the class during my committee meeting last month, she said she would sub in this room everyday! I am very lucky to have such a nice group of children. They are so polite and courteous. I will miss them next year.
