Welcome to the KinderNews. This newsletter will be sent home each Friday or last day of the school week. It will update you on the activities we do each week. I will print snack reminders and special events coming up. You can also view the KinderNews on my Fast Direct bulletin board.

Attached to the newsletter is a form for Church and Sunday School attendance. We give quarterly awards for perfect Church and Sunday School attendance. Regular Church attendance is important to your family's faith growth. Please fill out the form and return in your child's folder on Monday.

Thank you to the class for my birthday snack and celebration. I appreciated the gift cards that will come in handy as we are near to completing our home. Thank you so much!

What is the Fall Festival? It is a PTL sponsored event. It is tonight (Friday, 10/17) from 4-7pm. Food, games and fun are on the agenda for the evening. Your child may wear a costume, or bring it to change into for the Costume parade that takes place at 6:00 on stage.

Students continue to earn stickers for their sticker charts for good choices. This class is so quiet when we walk in the hall or come in from outside! We are struggling in the classroom though with our listening skills and not interrupting me as I am teaching. We talked about consequences for those actions. I am writing a student's name on the board as a warning to put their voice on zero when I am teaching. If they keep talking a check is put by their name. Each check equals a two minute time out at recess or free time and a 3 circled on their daily report.

Wednesday will be our library day. Read the book as often as you like. Record it on your Home Reading Record. Return the book to school in the bag with your child's name on it by the next Wednesday when we will choose a new book. If you forget on Wednesday, a new book can be checked out the next day.

Thursday, October 9 was the end of the first quarter. A report card was sent home today, Friday, October 17. Parent/Teacher conferences will follow on Tuesday, October 21 and Wednesday, October 22. Please fill out the Pre-conference form that went home in folders on Thursday and return it by Monday.

I will be adding new sight words, please send your child's sight word cards to school in their folder so I can collect them. I have already started to collect some.

On the back page of our phonics worksheets (letter sheets) is a dotted box. Each day at school we will echo read these words. They are high frequency words, meaning we'll see them a lot as we are learning our reading skills. Please echo read these with your child every day. As they are learned, allow your child to read them.

SAVE THE DATE! A field trip is being planned for grades K, 1 & 2. The date is Thursday, November 13. We will go to the St. Louis Symphony and the Magic House. A field trip form went home today in your child's report card envelope. It should be returned to school with payment by November 5.
