Welcome to the KinderNews. This newsletter will be sent home each Friday or last day of the school week. It will update you on the activities we do each week. I will print snack reminders and special events coming up. You can also view the KinderNews on my Fast Direct bulletin board.

Attached to the newsletter is a form for Church and Sunday School attendance. We give quarterly awards for perfect Church and Sunday School attendance. Regular Church attendance is important to your family's faith growth. Please fill out the form and return in your child's folder on Monday.

Tuesday, November 25 is a full day of school and there is after school care.

Our Advent/Christmas Service will involve grades K-5 this year. The date is Wednesday, December 3, in the Old Gym. We will have two performances, one in the morning at 9:00am and the other in the evening at 6:30pm. We will need the students to attend both, please. It has been the tradition that second graders are chosen for the Mary, Joseph and Wise Men parts, the first grade boys are shepherds and the Kindergarten girls are angels. The kindergarten girls will be wearing a full length white angel costume, with a ring of garland for their head. You'll want to dress them in something not too warm and simple, a top and pants. They will wear the costume for the entire service, about 45 minutes.

Students will have the opportunity to shop for small gifts for family members on December 4 and 5. If you wish your child to shop, fill out the envelope that is in your child's folder and return it with money inside by Dec. 4. The envelope will let us know who your child is shopping for and how much they can spend. Kindergarten will shop on Thursday, Dec. 4 from 1:30-2:30. It is not required, but most children usually shop for someone. They will have help wrapping their gifts and bring them home to place under your tree.

Our disguised turkeys are hanging in the hallway at the end of the main hall. They are super terrific! Make sure you find time to take a peek at them. Thanks for your hard work on this project.

On the back page of our phonics worksheets (letter sheets) is a dotted box. Each day at school we will echo read these words. They are high frequency words, meaning we'll see them a lot as we are learning our reading skills. Please echo read these with your child every day. As they are learned, allow your child to read them.

Remember to be practicing the sight word cards. They will be evaluated before Christmas break.

LCFS Gifts: What is it? Our school adopts 12 children through Lutheran Child and Family Services to provide Christmas gifts for them. We ask for donations toward the purchase of gifts from each child's wish list. You may send your donation to the school office or in your child's folder, marked LCFS Gift by November 21. The money collected is then pooled and divided between the 12 children. Daycare- 8th grade participates in this. Mr. Becker will be delivering the gifts to the LCFS office on Dec. 5. We thank Mrs. Brittany Veath for being our class shopper.

As cold weather approaches, we will try to go outside for recess as much as possible. Please send warm coats, hats and gloves when the weather calls for it. Also remember to dress your child in layers, a short sleeve under a long sleeve, as it gets warm in the building.
