Welcome to the KinderNews. This newsletter will be sent home each Friday or last day of the school week. It will update you on the activities we do each week. I will print snack reminders and special events coming up. You can also view the KinderNews on my Fast Direct bulletin board.

Attached to the newsletter is a form for Church and Sunday School attendance. We give quarterly awards for perfect Church and Sunday School attendance. Regular Church attendance is important to your family's faith growth. Please fill out the form and return in your child's folder on Monday.

Your child was presented with a Bible storybook today after chapel last Friday. Yesterday, I sent home a blank thank you note. Please take time to help your child write a thank you to the St. John's Evening Guild (our Ladies' group). Return the thank you in the envelope by Monday, September 15. I will deliver them on Tuesday at their meeting.

Wednesday will be our library day. Read the book as often as you like. Record it on your Home Reading Record. Return the book to school in the bag with your child's name on it by the next Wednesday when we will choose a new book. If you forget on Wednesday, a new book can be checked out the next day.

The Cougar Prowl Fun Run was a great success. Our families raised over $10,000. Thank you to everyone who donated to this fundraiser through the Kindergarten classroom. We made two of our goals. Everyone had a good time. One student said it was "a party!"

We are learning that the alphabet has 26 letters. Five of them are vowels and the rest are consonants. We also have learned that a vowel followed by a consonant makes its short sound. We code the vowel with a breve.

Invitations to Grandparents/Special Guest Day went home last week. The schedule for that day is as follows: Grandparents/Special Guests come into the school at 9:15. Guests should park in the main lot and enter through Door 1. Various activities will be set up, including: visiting classrooms, making a craft, snack and Bingo in the old gym. At 10:15, guests will head to the New Gym to be seated for the program which starts at 10:30. Dismissal will be at 11:20 from the gym, by families. Bus riders and walkers will be released first. STUDENTS SHOULD NOT BRING THEIR BACKPACK ON THIS DAY. THEME SHIRTS WILL BE HANDED OUT TO STUDENTS THE MORNING OF GRANDPARENTS/SPECIAL GUEST DAY. WE WILL CHANGE HERE.

SAVE THE DATE! A field trip is being planned for grades K, 1 & 2. The date is Thursday, November 13. We will go to the St. Louis Symphony and the Magic House. More information to follow in a few weeks.
