Welcome to the KinderNews. This newsletter will be sent home each Friday or last day of the school week. It will update you on the activities we do each week. I will print snack reminders and special events coming up. You can also view the KinderNews on my Fast Direct bulletin board.

Attached to the newsletter is a form for Church and Sunday School attendance. We give quarterly awards for perfect Church and Sunday School attendance. Regular Church attendance is important to your family's faith growth. Please fill out the form and return in your child's folder on Monday.

Kindergarten students received a Red Bud tree from Red Bud Masons on Thursday. They do this every year to keep Red Buds plentiful in Red Bud!

There is a small Ziploc bag in your child's folder. Please look around your house and find some pieces of "junk" for our big letter Junky J. Look for small, light, flat items made from plastic, paper, metal, wood. We will attach it to our big letter with tape and glue. I will supply some items here at school, so 5-7 items is enough.

Thank you for supporting the Scholastic Book Fair.

We finished learning the 26 letter sounds. Now we are learning digraphs (ck & sh),combinations (qu) and long vowel sounds.

We will continue to say memory assignments according to the schedule that was sent home, on Tuesdays.

SAVE THE DATE: Kindergarten and first grade are planning a field trip to the St. Louis Zoo on Thursday, May 7. More information will follow later..

On the back page of our phonics worksheets (letter sheets) is a dotted box. Each day at school we will echo read these words. They are high frequency words, meaning we'll see them a lot as we are learning our reading skills. Please echo read these with your child every day. As they are learned, allow your child to read them.
