Welcome to the KinderNews. This newsletter will be sent home each Friday or last day of the school week. It will update you on the activities we do each week. I will print snack reminders and special events coming up. You can also view the KinderNews on my Fast Direct bulletin board.

Attached to the newsletter is a form for Church and Sunday School attendance. We give quarterly awards for perfect Church and Sunday School attendance. Regular Church attendance is important to your family's faith growth. Please fill out the form and return in your child's folder on Monday.

Turkey Trouble! On Wednesday, a turkey project went home. We read the book "Turkey Trouble." It's about a turkey trying to avoid being eaten for Thanksgiving. He comes up with all kinds of disguises. The project is to come up with a disguise for the turkey picture sent home with the explanation letter. Return your disguised turkey by Monday, November 17.

Our Veterans' Day Chapel is Wednesday, November 12. All of our students will be singing patriotic songs we have been practicing in choir. Anyone is welcome to attend, if you have a veteran in your family, please invite them to come. STUDENTS SHOULD WEAR SOMETHING RED, WHITE AND/OR BLUE OR PATRTIOTIC.

On the back page of our phonics worksheets (letter sheets) is a dotted box. Each day at school we will echo read these words. They are high frequency words, meaning we'll see them a lot as we are learning our reading skills. Please echo read these with your child every day. As they are learned, allow your child to read them.

On Thursday, November 13, kindergarten, first and second grades will go to the St. Louis Symphony and the Magic House. We will plan to leave school as soon as prayer, pledges and announcements are over. Please park in the main lot if your car is staying here all day. The bus will load on the north side of the school. We are expected at the Symphony before 9:30. If you get separated from our group, just tell them you're with St. John's Lutheran Red Bud, IL. Remember to bring a "sack" lunch, which we will eat at Christ Community Lutheran School around 11:00. The school is near the Magic House and they are providing us a space to eat our lunches. We will need to be at the Magic House at noon. Those who are riding the bus will return to school by 2:30.
